Free Lease Agreement and Forms Advice

by Eddie Manson
(Seattle, WA)

Firstly please accept my thanks for the free lease agreement and other landlord forms that are given for free on this website. The late rent reminder and landlord reference letter has been a real time saver for me on more than one occasion.

While I find that the free landlord forms and letters on this website are well written and carefully worded, you must remember that they are a generic copy for the general public.

Since your personal situation may differ, you should always take the extra few minutes to read through the entire landlord document carefully and edit it according to your own needs.

If you are sure about what you want, insert your own clause or edit the existing words to make it more specific. Remember the whole point of a landlord letter is make things clear in writing so avoid legal jargon and use everyday language instead.

After you are done editing, grab someone to proof read it again. Time and time again I am surprised by how many errors and mistakes can be weeded out with this simple step.
